Our Favourite Communications Apps for Co-Parents
For some families, it’s good to have a separate co-parenting app together soon after separation. It helps keep conversations around the child separate so it doesn’t get mixed in with personal communications and plans regarding the child, like appointments, school or contact arrangements, don’t get lost among other messages.
We don’t require families to use any particular app, and many manage on WhatsApp or email, but we often get asked for our recommendations on co-parenting communications apps so we created this page which lists our favourite apps that help parents communicate in the healthiest way possible.
We love to see separated parents working together, remembering it’s the child’s future that matters.

OurFamilyWizard
OurFamilyWizard is the longest-established app in this space and the one most family courts and solicitors already recognise.
It covers:
- Messaging
- A shared calendar
- Expense tracking
- Reports that parents can share with legal professionals
OurFamilyWizard suits families where a clear, court-ready record matters most, though it’s one of the pricier options, and each parent needs their own paid account.
Price: Starts from £107.99/year which works out less than £9/month
Coparenting
Coparenting works like a shared “info hub” for the practical details of a child’s day-to-day life, and lets you give limited access to grandparents or other family members involved in childcare. It suits families who want something built specifically for shared custody, without the higher cost of apps that charge each parent separately.
It includes:
- Shared calendar
- To-do and packing lists
- Expense tracking
- Private messaging designed to keep conversations calm.
Price:£7–£9 a month, with one subscription covering both parents rather than charging each separately. A free trial is available before you commit.
2houses
2houses is a communication app for co-parents and it provides:
- Shared calendars
- Expense tracking
- Messaging and document storage
Price: The app is £8.25/month, billed annually at £99.00 a year. Unlike many other apps, with 2houses one subscription covers both parents rather than charging each separately. That makes it a reasonable option for families who want the structure of a dedicated app without paying for two separate accounts.
TalkingParents
TalkingParents keeps every message and call as an unchangeable, time-stamped record, which can help reduce disagreements about what was said or agreed. It’s straightforward to use and works well for families who want documentation without needing every feature OurFamilyWizard offers.
Price: Starts at $77/year (about £55) if paid annually, or $7/month (about £5/month). A fee waiver is available if costs are a concern or if domestic abuse is a factor. Parents need to apply for the waiver.
AppClose
AppClose offers one all-inclusive plan rather than several tiers, which keeps things simple to understand.
It covers:
- Messaging
- Calls
- A shared calendar
- Expense tracking
Everything is recorded which is helpful for those who need it as a court-ready record.
Price: Around $7.99 (about £6) a month per parent, with a 60-day free trial and fee waivers available for families who need them (includes military families).
Cozi
Cozi isn’t built specifically for separated families; it’s a general family organiser.
It includes:
- Shared calendars
- Shopping lists and to-do lists
We’ve included it in this list of our favourite co-parenting apps because some families, particularly those on good terms, prefer a simple shared calendar over a more formal co-parenting platform. It won’t give you the message records or court reports that other apps do, so it suits lower-conflict arrangements.
Price: Free to use, with an optional Gold upgrade at around $39 (£29) a year for a fuller calendar view and extra reminders.
