Why Our Support Matters to Shropshire Families

Family separation can be one of the most challenging transitions a child experiences. During this time, maintaining safe, structured contact with both parents (where appropriate) provides stability, reassurance, and continuity for children.

Our centres offer a neutral, child-focused environment where contact can take place calmly and safely.

We provide:

  • A secure, welcoming venue
  • Supported contact sessions
  • Trained volunteers committed to safeguarding
  • A structured environment that prioritises the wellbeing of the child

For many families, our centre becomes a vital bridge during a period of change. Over time, as confidence grows and trust is rebuilt, parents are often able to transition contact arrangements beyond the centre — and we support families carefully through this process.

The Wider Impact

  • Our work forms an important part of Shropshire’s wider family support network.
  • Children experience consistency during uncertainty and maintain critical relationships with parents.
  • Parents can focus on positive, loving contact and family tensions are reduced.

What type of contact do you want to organise?

    Supervised

An environment where the child spends time with the non-resident parent or caregiver in the presence of a supervisor. The supervisor observes the interaction and may take notes about the visit. Reports may be shared with courts or other professionals if required. Sessions are usually booked and charged per visit.

Supported (trained volunteers are present at all times)

A welcoming environment where children can spend time with their non-resident parent or caregiver. Families share a room with other parents and children. Trained volunteers are present to offer support, help manage arrivals and departures, prevent parents from meeting if needed, and maintain a safe and comfortable environment for everyone.

If you’re still not sure, you can read more about these types of contact here.
